The Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert (JALBCA) Committee acts as a liaison to JALBCA, an organization created by judges and lawyers concerned about the prevalence of breast cancer and related issues. JALBCA's mission is to promote awareness of breast cancer in all parts of the community and to develop new programs and services that utilize the singular talents of jurists and members of the bar. WBASNY'S JALBCA Committee co-sponsors the "October Alert", a program centered in courthouses across the state each October. The chapters set up information tables and distribute brochures about breast cancer to women who are litigants, witnesses, lawyers, judges and court employees. The Committee also arranges for mammography vans at various selected locations.
